Keep Calm and Carry On

The Open Letter today is delayed.  Stay Tuned.

UPDATED: Ok, so what happened?  I have 12 days of vacation time to take between, well, yesterday and the end of the year, and to do that I need to get work covered.  But my job is sorta like Mr Incredible's job: No matter how many times you save the world, it always manages to get back in jeopardy again. Sometimes I just want it to stay saved! You know, for a little bit? I feel like the maid; I just cleaned up this mess! Can we keep it clean for... for ten minutes!

On top of that, my hatred of flying through ATL amplified itself yesterday.  I routed my parents through ATL to have a decent layover so they wouldn't get pinched by the lay-over, but their 90 minute layover turned into a 5 hour layover and I had to make the round trip to Memphis not between 7 PM and Midnight but 7PM and 4 AM.  In the pouring rain.

SO the letter this week will be up tomorrow, and then I'll finish up normal the remaining Wednesdays.

Well, which is it, young feller? You want I should keep calm or carry on? Mean to say, if'n I keep calm, I can't rightly carry on. And if'n I carry on, I'm a-gonna be in motion. You see...

(Name that distantly-alluded-to movie)

Raising Arizona, which, contrary to popular opinion, in not a comedy, but rather a documentary.

Hah!

Outed!

Well, there's what's right, and there's what's right, and ne'er the twain shall meet!

Maybe brief "open letters to self" might be encouraged in the comments?
It could be interesting what the readers write to themselves...very briefly of course.

Ahhhh! It's delayed! Whatever shall I do?

I know - I'll click refresh every thirty seconds until it shows up!

LOL, I see the haters are whacking the ratings. "WHERE'S MY FREE ENTERTAINMENT??! WHERE'S MY FREE ENTERTAINMENT??!"

If you need something to read in the interim, I feature a few Biblical thoughts on "justice" vs. Marxist redistributionism.

So... "keep calm" is an aorist participle and "carry on" is an aorist imperative, right?

BTW, you know Frank's just trying to top his "I got nothin'" record.

We shall now call Frank "King George."

Haven't seen it in so long, but it was a classic. Probably the only movie with Nick Cage that I like. Gonna look for it on Netflix. Thank you, gentlemen. I'll be carrying on now.

Interestingly (?), my wife and I's first home was "a starter home in rural Tempe". Well, kind of. It was on Mill and Baseline in Tempe, but a starter(single wide) home it was.

And interestingly (?) enough, I really DO live in Arizona.

My word verification is "blympo".

I just got back from the staff Christmas luncheon.

Way to feed my paranoid tendencies, Frank. You did this, right?

Frank,

Sorry to hear about the layover for your parents and you having to drive in the rain at that hour. I hope that y'all are able to enjoy your time together and that work calms down some for you.

This reminds of how my dad always wound up selling back some of his vacation time because he was too busy...most companies don't let you do that nowadays, though.

Lesson learned: NEVER route through ATL... even if it's your starting point. They'll lose your luggage and you'll be delayed for 2 hours minimum beyond your normal layovertime.

DELTA: Do Not Expect Luggage To Arrive

You'd think with ATL being in the south, they'd have some of that Southern hospitality. NOT. Just New Yorkers with funny accents. Flew down there at Thanksgiving one year. Never again....

Sir Brass, the folks at the Atlanta airport were very helpful once when my baggage was missing. It seems the baggage handlers in Phoenix had refused to complete their work - because it was raining! The good folks in Atlanta just couldn't comprehend how that was an excuse.

How many times have I heard that from my students...

Did Frank say "he would finish up normal the remaining Wednesdays?"

So he's done being normal after the remaining Wednesdays? Or..

DELTA: Do Not Expect Luggage To Arrive

Also, Doesn't Ever Leave The Airport

And Republic (a predecessor of Northwest) was sometimes known as Repugnant; Allegheny (now US Airways) - Agony.

And while we're looking busy:

CHEVROLET: Cracked Head, Each Valve Rattles, Oil Leaks Every Time.

FIAT: Fix It Again, Tony.

As a Medallion Gold member at Delta, it's not as bad as you-all make it out to be. I am convinced that the issue is which airports you are flying through rather than which airlines.

What happened Wednesday night was a function of unscheduled maintenance and not a function of Delta being in league with the devil.

I just, the same day this blog was posted, purchased from the Hotel del Coranado, a tea pot with,"Keep calm and carry on" a slogan from King George in 1939 to the British, which was never published. But it spoke to me. Being a Christian sometimes means, to me, 95% showing up and 5% Not panicking! and I tend to panic. So, a strong cup of tea, a bible and a moment to drink both in seems wonderful to me! Ahh, when things go wrong, maybe a stiff upper lip isn't a bad thing..is it? SS about the airport travail.. I arrived home from my trip sick tired and willing to drink a pot of tea and try not to panic!
