Somehow, this didn't work out the way I planned it

by Frank Turk

For about a week now, I have been making this really great point about the Gospel over at my blog, and nobody's reading it. And I'm not going to cross-post it because that's ridiculous.

Phil called yesterday's post "quotable", but it all starts right here, and if you are interested you can follow the "series" links at the bottom of each page to read the suceeding installments.

Sure: you're all over here reading about Spurgeon and whatever. Well, suit yourselves.

Well. Now I won't feel bad about promoting my blog in the comments of your blog.

You are right. You are making a really great point over there.

Cent, you're an indefatigable marketer. That's why we love you. For the record, I agree that your point is well worth considering. Everyone who hasn't should visit and at least take a glance at what you've written.

But ever since you linked me and teased me with sidekick status, I've become rather sycophantic, so take that for what's worth.

Okay, now your traffic is going to break the server, because I promoted you on my blog.

Hey, I've been reading your posts, Frank. I'm enjoying them.

You are important Frank; we really like you; we love you man; if you were on American Idol, I would call your 866 number first!!!

I read your blog regularly - almost monthly now :-). It's really great.

I still think Frank is handicapped unfriendly. His shirts have no pockets for my support equipment.
My airplane has a braille altimeter so I can feel how high I am. He has no feelings for me at all.

Really serious here, the series is one of the more important ones I've seen recently. A must read.

I'll be honest - after your disagreement with Michael Spencer, I decided to unbookmark your site.

I'm no fan of MS and the BHT (who have been quite nauseating lately), but I felt that the disagreement wasn't handled in a particularly godly way.

As oppposed to iMonk's perpetual behavior, I guess.

I wonder -- did you want to discuss that matter, or just bring it up? I'd be willing to discuss it. Either here, at my blog, or on the DebateBlog.

Please: state your case in some concrete way.

Frank,

You still have a blog of your own? No way! I'll have to check it out.

Marc:

Yeah, I have this debate blog that people keep bailing out of. You should read it -- it's funny.

I'm a nobody. So yes, nobody's been reading. Goodness, I even commented, which is a scary old business at Frank's blog.

I have found that the more important, significant, or powerful a series or post is, the fewer people want to comment on it. It isn't always a lack of interest, it might well be a lack of chutzpah - you don't follow a good meal with potato chips - people know that ain't right.

If you want lots of comments, do a poor job explaining calvinism... ;-P

1/100: I'm reading it. Good stuff. I am speechless, however, and still can't figure out, after reading and re-reading, that Rhett guy's beef with Piper. Here's my own humble take:

If a blogger lashes out (not questions, not debates, but, lashes out) against the likes of John Piper (who is not infallible, by any means, but undoubtedly a sound, respectable, trustworthy, and graceful theologian), people will read your blog, and link to your blog, and you will have your 15 hits of fame in blogdom.

I love the commenters "Rhett-orical" question to his post, something to the effect, "if you think you are moving farther away from Piper's theology, which of you is headed to apostasy....?"

It is all simply a product of the x-gospel you describe in the most recent post....nice fish, bad theology.

(This is not meant as a slight to the recording artist on this site)

This series of posts put me in mind of this quote from The Bard (that is, SCC):

"What about the change?
What about the difference?
What about grace?
What about forgiveness?
I want to live a life that's showin' I'm undergoin' the change"
