Meta policy change

by Phil, Frank and Dan

We've usually left the comments open forever. The downside of that is that, after various posts slipped off of our radar-screens, "certain men crept in unawares" and spattered various kinds of noxious nonsense.

Given that we are simply unable to go back over each and every meta day after day, and since we're not sure what L'Abri would do, we're adopting a new policy.

Other things being equal, we'll give each new post a few days for comments, and then we'll close the meta. If we opt to do so, we may leave it open until it is about to slip off the front page, then we'll close comments.

As you were.

But posting a comment that no one will see is my only chance of pretending to feel that I might be intelligent!

Its about time.

Good grief. A post with 200 plus comments going back and forth deconstructing Doug Pagitt is a bit much don't ya think. I mean, what more could possibly be said after 200 comments?

Lederhosen. Alpenhorns. That's what L'bri would do. Maybe even a little Glugg. Oh, never mind. That's Sweden.

There's action on an old Pagitt thread!? Wow. The things you miss....

I think the Doug Pagitt & emerging church brings about a relevant conversation that corresponds to a better understanding of the minds that are coming together. It really bridges the chasm that has existed between the two parties that have been joined tighter to find the truth where we can seemingly find some similitude of truth. We cant bring our platonic mindset to all these things.
I always wanted to sound relevant. Emergent talk is so irrelevant? What does this have to do with this post? Just what do you mean by that?

The concussing of expired equine carcasses is the profoundly futile act of fruitless men.

One of the things I have found with the unending comments about one post is that in the end, it has become a private debate among five or six people, and nothing new really gets added.

Ha, that was me. Just updated Google Earth and now it's inserting my real name everywhere. Not impressed.

It's also making you echo your wife. That Google has some scary powers...

I guess the only thing left to do is keep adding comments so we'll always know exactly when PhilDanCent pulls the plug.

So I take it this means you're not really interested in having a "conversation"?

;-)

So instead of competing to be the first commenter, folks here are going to compete to be the last commenter? ;)
