Phil Johnson demonstrates man's utter futility at trying to enter the storehouses of snow.

Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow;... (Isaiah 1:18 NIV)

Phil, what Jesus meant was...umm... ;-)

Seriously, that looks like a blast! Ah, to be 38 again. I'm Godly jealous!

Did Pecadillo make you wear that helmet?

I'm just very tickled that this is tagged as 'masculinity'.

If you can sledge down a hill in the snow on a giant tyre, you'll be a man, my son :-D

Looks marvellous fun.

The bicycle helmet was borrowed from James White, right?

Phil,

No gravestone there...not worthy of you. I think we can find a way to get your ashes placed into a certain spot in the West Norwood Cemetary. Of course, many, many years from now.

See, when we were kids, you'd send the fat kid down the hill first because he'd pretty much plow out a path for the other kids to sled down. And then every time he'd go down the hill, the luge-like path would get longer, increasing the fun for everybody.

I'm not sure what that has to do with Phil's video here, but it brought back fond memories.

It kills me that I'm not the first one to fit in a Chicago song as a title! Or, even more, that it was Phil!

Here's some classic footage.

Don't mind having THAT song in my head.

Where are your gloves?

That was such a *cute* start to my day. It made me (and my young son) smile :)

Phil,

the video was a lot of fun to watch, but I bet it was even more fun for you. Now I want to go tubing!

:-)

Not much of a "black diamond" slope. Probably why Phil said "fun" in a monotone voice. :)

Kim said...

You're much braver than I.

There was tubing at the youth retreat I was at last weekend, but I was to scared to go down!

A helmet? I thought the post was labeled "masculinity."

S.J. Walker said...

I think the helmet was on backwards.

Not that I would know, I rode saddlebroncs and bulls without a helmet and also BMX....explains a lot doesn't it?

And I'm surprised no one else picked up on the Monster's Inc. reference. I thought better of you.

Monster's, Inc. reference? And that was . . . ?

When Phil described his drudgery through the deep snow to the hill at our excellent Snow Retreat, I didn’t realize that he wasn’t even dressed for playing in the snow. No snow gear whatsoever no wonder he was cold. I don’t know if he knew, but his helmet was on backwards. One of the many things I admire about Phil is that he is always willing to go above and beyond, and is always up for a challenge, even if he is from SoCal and in multiple feet of snow.

I KNEW it.

Good on Phil.

Excellent! Where is that? My kids would love that much snow.

We were at the Double K Ranch in Easton, WA, just east of Snoqualmie Pass on I-90. It was the most snow they have had in 30 years.

I think I'll go listen to a little "Ballet for a girl Buchannon". Thanks for the nice video DJP.

If you're at all a Chicago fan, search them on Youtube. There are some amazing vids, from their very earliest days to the present.

I'm with you there. A helmet for tubing down that hill with snow that deep! It must be a California thing.

"amazing vids"

Good music. Nostalgic.
Excellent stuff. Experts, everyone, especially that drummer. I think he's the best I've ever heard.

Love the one "Free".

okay, that was fun.
As Justin Our boyo says "funny man, going to get up gain?" :)

If he desides to come back after almost getting stuck up there with us, maybe we could get him some snow pants.
