You need this guy at your church this Christmas
by Dan Phillips
"Christmas?" you say. "Isn't it a little early?"
Trust me. You'll thank me for giving you time to book this man.
(Mainly, I saw this and thought, "Oh, Phil would love this.")
Nor is that the only Yuletide tune in his repertoire:
I'm thinking that, at the Heita3 household, life must be fun, and the grocery bill high. (Obviously, I can't vouch for all the video's... especially the parts in Japanese.)

OK, that's 3:49 out of my life I won't get back.
Sourpuss.
wow... =:^
I thought it was 3:49 well spent. Thanks for sharing.
Melly Chlismas! And here I thought daikon was good only for sushi :)
The second video sounded like a kazoo...
The Broccoli flute was kicking though!

well,
it was fun, and it helped me feel like the time i've spent blogging isn't a total waste...
obviously, there are other things i could do with my time.
now, where are my green bean wind chimes?
I noted some small children behind him. They should have a little orchestra.
This guy must have time on his hands.
Obviously he never heeded his mothers admonition to not play with his vegetables.
If he isn't available and so as not to disappoint, noticed a vegetable orchestra video at youtube gives an interesting peek into proper selection at veggie stand along with 101 intro on making your own. Got carrots?
Stir fry fellowship in the FLC(family life center) annex immediately following performance.
I love that! I can see the invite: "Join the Praise Team for a joyous celebration. Instruments will be consumed immediately afterwards"
:^D
:-)
Throw out the kazoos, bells, and chimes for what is "in" this season? Maybe the Praise Team will yield to a sneak peek of what the youth ministry is doing for competition, vacation Bible school, or the community street fair this year. In the name of audience numbers.
My bad.
I'll never be able eat broccoli again without thinking of this guy.
Way too funny. Thanks for posting.
amen, donsands. Will surely smile more due to the levity in cleaning/cutting/cooking/serving veggies. ;-)
I wonder what one can do with a beet?
For those who share this perverse interest, the fellow has a whole series of musical fruit/vegetable vids at YouTube.
Somebody has too much time on his hands :) but it's better than going out and causing trouble.
Wow, this guy is cool. He should be playing for Veggie Tales! But to hit the low notes on that tuba thing like Larry the Cucumber does, he'd probably have to make an ocarina out of a whole tree instead of a broccoli spear.

PS, Warning, Dan, prepare yourself: You'll probably be roundly criticized in the Christian blogosphere for having a non-Christian on your website, playing Christian music on a vegetable. You've gone relevant on us!!!
I like the little kid singing with the second song. Who needs expensive instruments like guitars for a family sing-along? Just whittle yourself one out of whatever giant radish you happen to have...
Dan, Dan, Dan. Yesterday, a pithy, deep and insightful post on...well, something pithy and deep that escapes me now. And today...musical vegetables. The range of your blogging intellect is truly staggering.
BTW, I used to play 2nd cauliflower in an all-vegetable symphony. Velly velly good.
Wow. The broccoli was pleasant, but the daikon was a bit too piercing for my ears.
I relate to this guy though, I am an artist, but do not limit myself to canvas and sketch pads.
Speaking of oriental music, go listen to this little beauty:

Now this guy knows what it is to truly be labeled "GREEN" for the cause of the environment... as long as he recycled his instruments and made a yummy stir-fry.
This (both the guy on the video playing the veggie and djp uploading it for all to see) reminds me of an old Styx song - "Too Much Time on My Hands"
:-)
..great... now I will have that song stuck in my head all day.
Is this an example of contextualizing the gospel for vegetarians?
Best of the bunch.....
(In a looser sense of the word:)
Fruit flutes for pagan vegans.
I love that, Jim. It makes me think, very tangentially, "Pear pimples for hairy fishnuts."
That's talent. My two-year-old is fascinated. Her eyes are the size of her sippy-cup.
