Theologically rich

by Frank Turk

I just wanted to mention that it bothers me when people read theologically-rich blogging and thereafter expose their own theologically-impoverished state by attempting to reproach great practical theological thinking. Especially when the core evidence necessary for their complaint cannot be found in the afore-mentioned theologically-rich blogging.

Just sayin'.

I am pretty sure if you knew what makes us feel loving and less guilty you would be more understanding of our dogmatic biblically thoughtless respones, and our resistance to reason or learning.

:P

I confess. I do it because I'm angry about feeling guilty, cause I'm ashamed of being afraid.

Could you share the link to the theologically-rich blog? ;)

I'm not sure what you're talking about. My guess is Egrun Caner followers.

I wouldn't have thought of it if Phil hadn't posted the link to Ref21 here and if he hadn't posted the link to Dr. Trueman's column partly about Caner on his Twitter account.

I like the sign.

How very James 3:5!

bothersome: presupposing infallibility of ideas and lambasting dissenters.

obtuseness: refusing to deal with actual contents of post or accept instruction, then complaining loudly about non-delivery of non-promised goods, or about failure to pursue personal rabbit-trails.

ha ha :) to every dissenter, the standard response is: "you obviously didn't read. go back, read, think, stop, la la la not listening!!11one1". it was bothersome until i realized the pattern. now it's just amusing. i've succumbed to the futility in engaging should i disagree.

pronouncing controversial ideas invites controversial reaction. how you deal with that is what separates a zealot from a philosopher.

Ooh, a rant, how cathartic!

Is everyone allowed to join in? Let's give this a crack:

I just wanted to mention that it bothers me when people read their own buddies' error-riddled blogging through flesh-colored glasses and thereafter expose their own discernment-impoverished state by attempting to reproach those who point out and correct said error as commanded by scripture. Especially when the grounds necessary for their reproach cannot be substantiated by scripture, but is in fact a violation thereof.

In Christ,

sometimes I wish you guys spoke regular English like Charles Spurgeon did!

For some reason I cannot see Paul or Jesus writing what is in this post. Paul said, "And when I came to you, brethren, I did not come with superiority of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God. For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified" (1 Cor. 2:1-2).

Jesus said, "I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants" (Matt. 11:25).

You don't have to know Greek and Hebrew or use big words to be able to understand God's message. Some may blunder in what they are trying to say because they feel like they have to say it a flowery, beautiful way like you guys do so well on this blog. Just because they can't express what they feel and know as well as you doesn't mean they don't have some pretty amazing things to offer in the Kingdom.

Just sayin'

...which bears what relationship to anything Frank wrote in this post?

Perhaps I missed an inside joke somewhere, but my previous comment was from this section:

"expose their own theologically-impoverished state"

Maybe they're just not expressing their point of view very well.

It's hard to tell what you are saying on this post without some specific examples.

is anyone else some what offended that CD signs out "in Christ"?

cuz it is ALL evidence to the contrary. just saying..

mike said...

Nathan,

maybe they are expressing their point of view just fine, but unwilling to even consider if it aligns with scripture, just sayin

Nathan Williams said...

mike, you are probably right.

Maybe I just took a moment to vent against a problem of pride I see that rears its ugly head from time to time in the religious blogosphere. And maybe it's my own problem that I need to deal with first! There's a thought. I think Jesus said something about that, too...

:-)

May I ask what "evidence" you're referencing in your assertion?

In Him,

CD, fantastic, so now we can play the “everyone watch me while I feign innocence and ignorance about any and everything, in hopes that someone else can be made to appear as judgmental”, game I love that game.

Hi mike,

I don't think it's a game to publicly assert that "ALL" evidence points to a professing believer being lost (i.e. not in Christ). In fact, this a very serious charge.

I'm asking you to either substantiate your charge, or to retract it as being baseless.

Please be specific.

In Christ,
CD

It seems like he retracted, CD. This is what happens when someone doesn't like your "tone" and then they realize that they were only offended because you were correcting them with the truth.
