I was going to write an open letter to the Holy Spirit this week, but I couldn't find a way to make it both poignant and non-blasphemous. Rather, here's what you ought to read today:
Voices in our heads
What's necessary for the Church?
Remember Todd Bentley? (Yes: He's back)
Signs and Wonders
A More Excellent Way
The PDF of my exchange with Dan Edelen, as linked by Monergism.com
Fantastic. Tell Dr. Michael Brown we said Hi.

Excellent article on "Signs and Wonders" and the elect and unbelievers being deceived. Insightful stuff. For those of us readers who don't read Pyro on Twitter, get on it. Probably one of the most pithy and insightful things about "signs and wonders" was on Dan Phillip's Twitter account. I'm paraphrasing, but basically he says if you want to know something is fake, look at the response of unbelievers. True Biblical wonders make unbelievers react with awe and fear (raising of the dead, parting of the seas, healing blindness or amputated ear). Modern Biblical wonders make unbelievers shrug with indifference (God helped my grandmother beat cancer) or stifle laughter (speaking in tongues).
I just want everyone to note that a series of sound, sober, any-Christian-should-agree links currently have a one-star rating from three votes.
With no follow-up comments. No explanation.
I've reverted to IE due to some problems with Chrome and Firefox. Star ratings don't appear in IE Explorer! So you can't blame me for the one star ratings.
Wow...three votes with one star? Did the pentecostals or YRR following decide to visit today?
Or maybe Bentley's followers just googled his name and wound up here...
Maybe you should pray for the gift to discern between different kinds of star-raters, Frank.
OSHers.....Wait, I thought that was a good thing ;o)! I'm confused. One word for ya'll, fugitaboutem.
Favorite moment of some of the re-read from the past - when Phil chimed in with "I love it when someone thinks Frank is more shrill than me."
That's a morning chuckle and then some. ;)
I had a vision that anyone who one-star-rates this post is going to experience a famine of blessing. I know this is true, because my second-cousin’s sister-in-law’s hairdresser’s pastor once met a missionary to the jungles of Uzbekistan who told him about an old peasant woman with similar visions, and they always came true!!!!!!
Tom - that's the exact type of thought process the post is arguing against.
Reread, rinse, repeat.
;-)
It took me a more than a day to read all the links (somebody around here has to get some work done)- that may explain the low comment count. It was worth all the "wading" to get to Pastor Chantry's comment though.
I accidentally gave "fresh fire" 3 hits looking for more info on Bentley being back. Ew.
Thank you for this
