They say it's my birthday, and...

by Dan Phillips

...I wanted to share some good news with you. Good enough that I'll bump myself to do so.

Just yesterday I signed and mailed off a contract for a second book — and this one is on Proverbs!

Tentatively titled Wisdom for Godly Living, it is to be put out by Kress Christian Publications. Next item on my list is the joy of the upcoming Bible Conference; after that, I plan to go at this project hammer and tongs.

I have an existing manuscript, but I'll be giving it a thorough going-over.

This is a long-cherished dream, and nice to be able to share it with you today.

DJP,

Congratulations! And thanks for not tantalizing us like last time...

Ever used Discovering the Way of Wisdom by Brugaletta and Curtis? I don't know much about Brugaletta, and as far as I could tell, his chapters were not so good. But Ed Curtis has been teaching at Talbot for a long, long time (you went there, right? I bet he was teaching when you did) and he is practically the personification of wisdom.

Curious for your thoughts if you've read it

Andrew

Woot!! That's such great news! And on your twenty-eleventieth birthday!

Perhaps our present to you should be a firm promise to buy several copies of both books at full retail.

Great news Dan. What a birthday present.

And it seems every year I forget we share a birthday. Happy birthday.

DJP said...

Cool! Me too! Maybe we'll remember next year?

Nahhh.

Congrats mate, very exciting!

Congratulations. You're suddenly a book-writing machine!

Try to get onto some of those Christian TV shows that interview authors on the promotion circuit.

A clear presentation of the Gospel (from Proverbs, no less) would be a breath of fresh air (sadly).

DJP: I'm so happy to read about this! I'll be getting those titles when they come out!

BTW...when are you gonna write that book about DISPENSATIONALISM??? ahahahah!

God Bless at the Conference.

Dan,

How does one go about getting their book published or a contract like yours?

Happy B-Day, Dan. May you have plenty of fond memories of K-Tel 8-track tapes, 78-speed records, black and white television, Red Ball Jet sneakers, Wheelos, Color My World, 25 or 6 to 4, Nehi Chocolate Pop, and a host of other fun things.

Maybe a little bit of Deep Heet on the side for the old lumbago.

Congratulations! I am looking forward to the read(s). I truly enjoy your "style" of writing, but above that, I am blessed with the wisdom. From a young(er) guy encouraged by one "wise in the faith" -- Thank you.

Oh, and Happy Birthday!

Happy 50-something-nd/rd/th
birthday, Bro' Dan!

Congratulations on your 2nd "Labor of (Writing) Love"; will definitely be looking forward to it!

BTW, if I may inquire, do you have a status update on the 1st?

DJP said...

You may, and I don't have one to share just yet. When I can, I'll share.

Now that's a birthday present!

Congratulations!

Dan,

Congratulations. I look forward to reading it.

I've also been eyeing several of the books published by Kress. But if I may judge books by their covers it looks like they put out some good material. They definitely appear to be calvidispiebaptogelical friendly.

This calls for some tongue-in-cheek humor. DJP releases his new theological hit: "They say it's my birthday and I'll preach if I want to" =p

Congrats on both the birthday and the book announcement!

Well, happy birthday (belated). They say the publishing process is longer than it takes to write the book. Your book should hit the shelf in about 18 months.

Go, Dan! Congrats!!

so can we sign up now for autographed copies?

And Happy Birthday too.

Dan,
Congratulations!
I somehow missed this post yesterday too, but cannot miss out on chance to congratulate you.
I have actually been expecting THIS book for several years.
Looking forward to having my brain exercised.
